Jayce Wong: Awarded New Jewellery Designer Award 2012

Jayce Wong: Emerald & White Diamond stack band

Jayce Wong’s ‘Great Gatsby’ range was inspired by the 1920s; with designs that are so beautiful and elegant. She utilises a geometric style with simplistic shapes and vibrant coloured jewels perfectly. Despite the collection taken from the 1920s theme it still has a modern twist – making the collection desirable in this era.

If you notice the hinged ‘Armour’ ring it is almost a geometric maze but the jewels is what brings the 1920s feel into it. With retail price at just £300+ for a ring that is 18k gold it is definitely a small investment buy –a worthwhile one nonetheless as it a timeless piece.

For my favourite item from the SIGNATURE range it has to be the Cushion Rutilated Quartz & black spinel necklace (18k gold plated silver, 60cm chain) at just £260 I think I will be waiting till pay day for that purchase!

Simone Rocha – came into her own identity this AW/12

With the epic London fashion week this year, Simone Rocha from Ireland needs a mention for sure; with her father in the industry John Rocha she has definitely caught my eye with her latest collection.

Simone Rocha’s latest collection catches the eye

Simone Rocha was working on a vision of new and old Ireland from the 30s: wild meets refined, oversized mannish Teddy coats mixed with pretty guipure and corded lace. We’ve seen a big coat over a pretty dress many times but here it was fresh again, with the unified colours she is using makes the whole collection go with our London weather nowadays the off white, black and metallic make the colours between themselves stand out.

With all my favourite textures and colour this season she really has nailed it with full elegance and chic. With a twist of masculine look as well as the lace and sheer tulle makes the collection a very feminine feel.

I have selected three of my “one to wear” this season from the collection which can easily take your day outfit to night – beautiful!

Emerging Fashion Designers at Fashion Weeks

With many fashion weeks taken place in Milano, New York and of course Paris I have picked out my favourite few new emerging fashion designers that I ZoeChic would love to work with on an exclusive collection. Firstly at New York fashion week it is all about Sophie Theallet (est 2009) Fall Winter 2012-2013 collection presented a colourful and powerful winter collection. The texture of materials are attractive and give you a ‘I want it now!!!!’ feel. Specifically the chiffon pink wrap dress that suits any shape and size with a beautiful satin tie that will make an woman feel as luxurious a designers aims for.

In Paris Fashion week Corrado De Biase (est 2010), Collections Fall Winter 2012-13 shows a great eye for fabrics and bang on trend colours. The use of capes, pleated skirts mixed fabrics makes a beautiful collection that is strong and must be an exciting time for the team behind Corrado De Biase – one to watch for sure!

My favourite of the three has to be from Milano is CO|TE; the collection is simple, flawless and effortless. The colours used are so strong that whether it’s their beige jumper or turquoise and orange dress its 100% a must see collection. I can see this collection fitting in with the majority of the London fashionistas and, if I had the choice of the three, I would want to develop a collection with CO|TE for sure.

Who Wore It Best; EMILIO PUCCI

So the current theme right now around the celebrity world of fashion is the mid-drift cut out dress. The likes of Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Frieda Pinto are all rocking it but what do you all think? We personally think if you are not SUPER skinny and tall you just won’t look right. Check out the perfect image comparison between super slim Gwyneth Paltrow and curvy Kim Kardashian sporting the same dress. On the hanger I am sure it looked appealing; daring, seductive yet classy – so a perfect choice for a red carpet event. However, Kim, who has a figure envied by millons, just looks uncomfortable and rather shockingly bad in this dress. Gwyneth on the other hand, who has a figure about as interesting and shapely as a flatline, looks sexy and stylish – HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!

So overall the mid-drift dress….wear it if you have the guts because you have to be of a certain physique to ever look good in it!
