Thuy Duong Nguyen, creator of her brand Thu Thu is a designer that develops pieces that fits well in any wardrobe. Why? Because she uses vintage fabrics from Vietnam (her native) creating such wearable, desirable pieces that would fly of Zoe Chic’s online fashion range if we had the opportunity to stock them. The vibrant colours and in your face prints will always make Thu Thu pieces stand out.
As beautiful as her AW12 collection is I have to remain focused on the SS12 collection. Specially the Sappa Suede Biker Jacket; its tan colour against the Aztec prints proves a quality, timelines and unique purchase. Adding to the beauty of the SS12 collection are the Sapa Leopard Jeans – if anyone would tell me that leopard jeans would be my dream next purchase I would have raised a brow. However, they have truly become my favourite piece of the collection. So unique, vibrant, and wearable Thu Thu has definitely achieved a big gold star in my eyes with her mixed texture, colourful and courageous collection.
When asked who her dream celebrity fan would be she said Azealia Banks (aka Miss Bank$); now I have to be honest I didn’t actually know who she was HOWEVER after a quick google/youtube search her voice is one of a kind and her rhythm is addictive. To comment on her style I can see why Thuy Duong Nguyen would be an admirer – she has a Aztec, tribal and adventurous style that can be matched and translated through many Thu Thu pieces from the AW12 collection.
The first thing I have to say is a big WOW when I am this excited over fashion as no other words can describe my feelings towards Alexander McQueen’s new collection Autumn/Winter 2012 in Paris Fashion Week and its is all down to Sarah Burton a.k.a known as the royal wedding dress designer.
Big thanks to Sarah Burton who has come to her own with the collection; and she has transformed McQueen’s usual collection, from the outrageous designs and the dark theme to this very different feminine look, but at the same time keeping it every bit of the Alexander Mc Queen era. I don’t usually go for his crazy outfits, but she has definitely turned the collection around, as Sarah Burton has done something different with the bouncy, fluffy and bright colours on his catwalk, the continuous layers gives it the extreme but feminine look we all desire. The models showcased the designs with metallic eye masks; giving the feel of a very futuristic aroma, complimenting the metallic thick belts round the waists – STUNNING!
The signature Sarah Burton lace, with flowery patterns defines the collection as girly and elegant. The oversized elbow length capes, fur and layers around their shoulders down to their elbows shows a big statement in all the glory of the elegant feel of a women. See images below for my chosen favourite images and tell me what you think….
With the epic London fashion week this year, Simone Rocha from Ireland needs a mention for sure; with her father in the industry John Rocha she has definitely caught my eye with her latest collection.
Simone Rocha’s latest collection catches the eye
Simone Rocha was working on a vision of new and old Ireland from the 30s: wild meets refined, oversized mannish Teddy coats mixed with pretty guipure and corded lace. We’ve seen a big coat over a pretty dress many times but here it was fresh again, with the unified colours she is using makes the whole collection go with our London weather nowadays the off white, black and metallic make the colours between themselves stand out.
With all my favourite textures and colour this season she really has nailed it with full elegance and chic. With a twist of masculine look as well as the lace and sheer tulle makes the collection a very feminine feel.
I have selected three of my “one to wear” this season from the collection which can easily take your day outfit to night – beautiful!
With many fashion weeks taken place in Milano, New York and of course Paris I have picked out my favourite few new emerging fashion designers that I ZoeChic would love to work with on an exclusive collection. Firstly at New York fashion week it is all about Sophie Theallet (est 2009) Fall Winter 2012-2013 collection presented a colourful and powerful winter collection. The texture of materials are attractive and give you a ‘I want it now!!!!’ feel. Specifically the chiffon pink wrap dress that suits any shape and size with a beautiful satin tie that will make an woman feel as luxurious a designers aims for.

In Paris Fashion week Corrado De Biase (est 2010), Collections Fall Winter 2012-13 shows a great eye for fabrics and bang on trend colours. The use of capes, pleated skirts mixed fabrics makes a beautiful collection that is strong and must be an exciting time for the team behind Corrado De Biase – one to watch for sure!

My favourite of the three has to be from Milano is CO|TE; the collection is simple, flawless and effortless. The colours used are so strong that whether it’s their beige jumper or turquoise and orange dress its 100% a must see collection. I can see this collection fitting in with the majority of the London fashionistas and, if I had the choice of the three, I would want to develop a collection with CO|TE for sure.
So the current theme right now around the celebrity world of fashion is the mid-drift cut out dress. The likes of Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Frieda Pinto are all rocking it but what do you all think? We personally think if you are not SUPER skinny and tall you just won’t look right. Check out the perfect image comparison between super slim Gwyneth Paltrow and curvy Kim Kardashian sporting the same dress. On the hanger I am sure it looked appealing; daring, seductive yet classy – so a perfect choice for a red carpet event. However, Kim, who has a figure envied by millons, just looks uncomfortable and rather shockingly bad in this dress. Gwyneth on the other hand, who has a figure about as interesting and shapely as a flatline, looks sexy and stylish – HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!
So overall the mid-drift dress….wear it if you have the guts because you have to be of a certain physique to ever look good in it!
So, as the Sun finally decides to make an appearance, a Summery outfit is needed. Go for peaches and nudes for a delicious step into Summer. Accessories complete an outfit and dress it up that little bit more, while the jeans balance it out, making it wearable for daytime. It’s the perfect blend of subtle and light, and as it’s all from the High Street, purse friendly aswell as Summer friendly!
Top Tip: Try mixing and matching with different colours and textures, and you’ll create outfits you never thought you had!
